I was invited by Iranian street art pioneer A1one to participate in a group show he is organsing in Tehran in January 09. Spray1387 will run from 16-21 January 09 in two galleries and in the streets of Tehran. The event will also feature a film night and a photography day -- more information visit the exhibition website.

That's a quite unusual place to exhibit street art you might think, but you'd be surprised to see the exciting street art that is coming from that region these days!

A1one was the first graff writer in Iran and has inspired many artist in the arabic world to use their beautiful visual culture with the tools of graffiti. I'm a huge fan of arabic calligraphy, it is the most beautiful writing in the world -- seeing it progressing into street art as it is done by A1one and his followers almost gets me wet my pants.

I was honoured to meet A1one when he visited Melbourne for the Stencil Festival this year and even had the great pleasure to have him as a guest in my studio to paint a wonderful collaboration with him. Check out his Flickr stream and see for yourself what an amazing and inspiring artist he is.
